A Smart Bike Helmet that Can Detect Collisions and Change Shape

Lukas Franz has created Madillo, a helmet that can detect collisions and call an ambulance if the wearer gets into an accident. The helmet is made of an auxetic material, a material that becomes thicker when stretched, to provide a better fit for its wearer. The Madillo helmet also includes smart sensors and LEDs weaved into the design. The helmet will shine whenever the wearer changes directions. If it senses that the rider has been in a collision, it even sends an SOS signal out to the nearest hospital and summons for an ambulance, while transmitting the location until help arrives.
