A private tutor online

The Smart Sparrow adaptive learning model is similar to having a private tutor.. A private tutor can adapt to you. When you go to a private tutor, you are not getting a lecture, you are not reading a book. You are typically doing problems and getting feedback while you do the problem. The learning experience is more interactive and more adaptive. Technology can now make it possible for every student in the world to benefit from this type of learning. Everyone can have their own private tutor. http://bit.ly/AuDrorBen

The future of supermarket shopping- virtual carts

There are no shopping carts or baskets inside the new Amazon Go store in Seattle. It feels as if you’re entering a subway station with a row of gates guarding the entrance to the store, allowing you in only if you have Amazon’s smartphone app. The checkout process is automated and you put items directly into a shopping bag. Every time you take an item off a shelf, the product is automatically put into the shopping cart of your Amazon online account. If you put the item back on the shelf, Amazon removes it from your virtual cart. www.nytimes.com/2018/01/21/technology/inside-amazon-go-a-store-of-the-future.html

Using blockchain to verify diamonds

Everledger is using blockchain to build a shared digital global ledger to track and protect diamonds. Using machine vision, they record 40 metadata points to create a unique thumbprint of each stone. It’s a forensic view like dental marks or an iris scan. The technology helps verify the authenticity, provenance, and custody of diamonds using a single source across the supply chain and can identify “blood” diamonds as well as fake and stolen diamonds. www.forbes.com/sites/pamelaambler/2017/09/10/how-blockchain-is-fixing-the-diamond-industrys-rampant-ethical-issues

A blood test that’s a breakthrough for detecting cancer

Scientists have created a blood test that can detect eight of the most common cancers long before they turn lethal, in a breakthrough that could save millions of people from premature death. The “liquid biopsy” identifies early-stage tumours from proteins and genetic mutations circulating in the blood. Called CancerSEEK, the test delivers almost no false positives, sparing patients needless heartache and unnecessary medical procedures for non-existent diseases. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/health-science/blood-tests-deliver-cancer-breakthrough/news-story/8874f0bd0d4b4eea680892d421c2f12c

Aerogel to improve our lives

I propose to use graphite for armor: A type of Aerogel called graphite, is an amazing thing. It can bend, it’s stronger than steel, and harder than diamond. It is also very light and is the thinnest crystal we know about. According to the studies at Rice University, if you shot a bullet through graphite, it would absorb more of the bullet’s kinetic energy. This means that several layers of graphite could completely stop a bullet. Graphite can be used for electrical wires: Graphite is also a good energy conductor. It has electrical properties that allow it to transfer energy. We can use this to our advantage and use it to make electrical wires. The benefits of better conductors is that electricity can go through more easily than say, copper. Graphene can solve our water crisis: Graphene is a material that can also absorb certain materials. It can help our water crisis by absorbing salt and bacteria, as well as lead. Graphite is very cheap, so countries can buy lots of it, and use it for filtering. Airloys can be used for construction Airloys are like the older brother of aerogels they are alike in many ways, but, they are really strong. They are actually stronger than most aerogels, and cost the same, unlike most strong aerogels. So, this material could be used for construction. The future of driving- NO driving!

The new General Motors autonomous car has no steering wheel, pedals or manual controls -features that have defined the experience of riding inside a car for more than a century. This means the Cruise AV, a fourth-generation autonomous vehicle, is in total control. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2018/01/12/gms-latest-car-gives-up-steering-wheels-pedals-and-human-control/
