Electric boats and trucks in national parks

We’re now in Chobe National Park Botswana Africa and are pleased that the Chobe Game Lodge, where we’re staying, uses electric boats for river cruising. They are powered by batteries overnight and use solar energy from panels on the roof as backup power. This means the boats are quieter and respect the surrounding wildlife and environment. They also use electric safari trucks for the same reason.

ReCircle Recycling: The world’s first 100% closed-loop domestic recycling appliance

Less than 9% of what we recycle actually gets turned back into its original product. Instead, most of our recycling goes to landfill or is used to produce low-grade products, such as road base or carpet lining. The ReCircle appliance will keep plastics, glass and metals separate so that it can wash, process and compact them – producing valuable, 100% pure closed-loop recycled products ready for manufacturers to purchase and use again in new products. This means less virgin material is required to produce the billions of containers we use every day. Read all about it at https://www.recirclerecycling.com

Converting wind from passing traffic into electricity

ENLIL Wind turbines are created by Deveci Tech from Istanbul, Turkey. They are designed vertically with long blades and can easily be assembled. Solar panels are fixed at the top of the turbines to generate extra electricity. A single ENLIL turbine can easily provide the average daily electricity needs of two households. The speeding vehicles on the highway can provide enough wind for these turbines to work all day and night without stopping and the energy generated can be transported to places where it can be used . https://buzzonearth.com/enlil-turbines-generating-power-through-passing-vehicles/

Improve Your Wardrobe (and Eco Footprint) With Organic Cotton Clothing

Unless it is certified organic, conventional cotton may not be as natural as you think. Over 99% of the cotton grown today is either genetically modified or grown with heavy applications of pesticides, or both. The problems with clothing production don’t stop in the field. During the conversion of conventional cotton into clothing, numerous toxic chemicals are added at each stage— silicone waxes, harsh petroleum scours, softeners, heavy metals, flame and soil retardants, ammonia, and formaldehyde— to name just a few. iKotton products are designed for sensitive skin.  They use only organically certified cotton, woven and dyed with low-impact non-toxic chemicals. https://www.ikotton.com/

Government incentives for electric vehicles

Driverless car (1)

Norway offers bus-lane access for electric vehicles, many recharging stations, privileged parking, and toll-free travel. The initiative began in the 1990s as an effort to cut pollution, congestion, and noise in urban centres; now its primary rationale is combating climate change. Today, Norway has the highest per capita number of all-electric [battery only] cars in the world. Last year, electric vehicles constituted nearly 40% of the nation’s newly registered passenger cars. Earlier this year, Norway opened the world’s largest fast-charging station, which can charge up to 28 vehicles in about half an hour. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/feb/07/power-to-the-ev-norway-spearheads-europes-electric-vehicle-surge
